Odisha Tourism Pitches for Air India Flights Extension from Port Blair to Phuket

Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju on Thursday assured The Toursim Division of looking into the expansion of the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Port Blase Air India (AI) journey to Phuket.

The guarantee came after Minister of State for Tourism Ashok Panda and Assistant Arvind Padhee met the Partnership Municipal Aircraft Reverend here and presented a list of requirements regarding aviation needs of the tourism industry.

With Phuket being 20 minutes of traveling time from Port Blair, the Tourism Division has been looking for expansion of the Air India flights to Phuket to attract more Buddhist guests to the Golden Triangle (Lalitgiri, Udaygiri and Ratnagiri) of Odisha.

“We also recommended the Civil Aviation Ministry to look into the expansion of New Delhi-Varanasi AI journey to Bhubaneswar which delivers a lot of Buddhist guests. We were confident of a positive reaction for both the Air India journey suggestions once the State Government transmits a formal correspondence in this respect to the Ministry.
